My sons Carter Brothers Trail Runner has the 6.5 Power Sport Tecumseh motor and the accelerator cable keeps coming out of the slot on the carb. I have a new cable and it seems to slide right out of the connection as well. Am I over looking something or is their something I need to purchase to attach this? ANy help is greatly appreciated!

Your missing the little metal cable end. Its a silver looking cap that goes over the end of the black part. Look at the other end of the cable, there is probably one there. Not sure if you can buy just one of them things. I buy bicycle cable kits and it comes with a lot of em. A quick simple fix, squeeze the curved part with some pliers and close it a little. If that's not enough to hold it,, I've seen some karts with a washer stuck between cable jacket and the plate. It takes up some slack and will help hold it. If that dont work, remove cable from jacket and put it back in the other way ,IF the other side has the silver part on the end. If not, buy a new cable..... hope that helps....

Uhhhh, where is the cable end? Hows it connecting to the throttle lever? I see frayed wire, no lead ball end.

For some reason, that little anchor plate isn't doing its job. Over time, they weaken due to heating & cooling &/or get bent out of shape. You can try but, it's usually pointless trying to repair it & easier to replace it

I think this is what you need to connect your cable to the throttle. http://www.ombwarehouse.com/Wire-Stop-Round.html

Looks like you might need a new throttle cable too. You need more cable to stick out and finish the connection. Yours looks like it was cut or broke.

Here's how the Wire-Stop is installed. It's on an older style throttle but it attaches the same as yours. You can see the screw head of the Wire-Stop in the picture just above the top of the spring.

Thanks Beach Bum! That is exactly what I need!
The cable does extend out farther but was receded in the pics above.
