Hello forum members,

I am a 'newbie' when it comes to 2 cycle engines, specifically
ones that use a diaphragm pump type carburetor;I need to know where I should tap a hole for the vacuum pulse to power
the diaphragm fuel pump--would I get a better vacuum signal(this engine is a piston port design, but but has NO reed induction parts!!) by tapping the crankcase cover,or the intake manifold spacer/adapter???

I will have to make,or buy used the carburetor intake manifold for the newly acquired West Bend Power Bee Tillotson HL232B single stack diaphragm(my enigne was bought without the carb, intake spacer, nor muffler included!!) to use a vacuum/pulse fiiting for the diaphragm pump to work, but I am guessing that a cleaner vacuum/pulse signal might be had at the crankcase cover area of the engine??

If anyone know the best placeto tap a vacuum source for a piston port 2 cycle engine,I will appreciate a reply to this post!

btw,I have uploaded an intake manifold that includes a vacuum
fitting;I am leaning toward buying this part since it doesn't need additional machine work!!

Either/Or.
Makes no difference. Tap in crankcase is easiest (and less expensive) in my experience.
I can post more pics of different engines if interested.
Done it on Clinton, Lawn-boy (pic) and Jacobsen 2 cycles.

I was thinking that the crankcase probably would be the easier of the two;the OEM Tecumseh intake pipe I just ordered looks like it would require LOTS of machining(tapping for 1/8 inch pipe thread into a fairly thick cross-section of the intake pipe!!) compared to the stamped steel crankcase cover!

I am also thinking of installing a boost bottle, but would probably use a vacuum "T" fitting on the crankcase mounted pulse fitting
instead of tapping two holes!!

If its going in the stamped steel cover I would braze it on there, less than a thread isnt gonna be very strong.
