Hey guys! I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked, but i browsed for a couple days and couldn't find anything. Im revamping the boys' kart, and think it would be well suited for a torque converter. Im probably overestimating, but well just say my mods have landed me somewhere around 10hp. So i planned on going with a 40 series. My concern is, they say their intended rpm range is 1800-3600....... Will these things reliably hold up to ungoverned rpms? Say....5500, or maybe a tad more? Guys like i said, im sorry if its been asked, but ive tried to research and i just wanna be sure before I spend the $$. I have zero experience with torque converters. Thanks in advance fellas!!!!👍👍

The 1800 is the point the TC engages. The 3600 is the point at which it reaches top gearing or full lock...

It'll handle all the rpms you can throw at it.

Brett;
Our outlaw yard kart group is running 30 series converters without a lot of trouble. We run some big motors, say 15 to 18 HP. Yes maintenance must be stepped up. Some have garter spring issues depending on their engagement speed. The spider and brass bushing have caused some trouble. Some have trouble with the driven unit going over center on the ramps, (the oversized plastic buttons seem to help with this.
Remember, we are racing these things, I see no problem with a bigger stock motor and leisurely riding.
