TC - order on shaft

Hi guys

I am lasy to google it..

My engine shaft is bit to short and I would like to move variomat and clutch to plate as much is possible..

It would save my day if i can change the order of elements on clutch shaft.

Currently, it goes plate - spacer- sprocket- spacer - clutch - spacer and screw on the end.

Can I swap sprocket to outside of clutch, so I can move all belt elements closer to plate?

No problem, as long as the key in your engine shaft is fully covered you're good.

just fab a spacer that fits the rest (a 3/4 aluminium rod, cut to length and drilled)
just so that you can torque the bolt down properly.
No need to move the sprocket to the outside.

But yes, you could change the order,
but if the backplate can resist the torque of the chain with that longer lever... IDK.. maybe you'll bend it.

I did something, I am not sure that i should but ...

first I use piece of cylinder and scrape down to 3/4" ..

then I drilled it down and threaded to 8 mm ...

then I use threaded rod and screw it into original shaft, then tighten it to shaft..

after that dig in into connection point and filled that with weld...

polished, make keyseat and run the engine to check is there any vibration ..

didint feel any but who knows...

p.s. yeah , I also thought that putting sprocket on top of shaft is not best idea.

maybe to make new shaft and put sprocket on opposite side of bearing..

but that would limit sprocket size and will demand to turn TC a bit to ground, maybe to low ..

so you already welded to your PTO.. that was unneccessary; (that piece would have worked just fine without. (untapped, drilled to let the bolt pass through)

and no, no need to cut it off, the problem is the heat from the welding, not the actual piece ;)
but since it still runs true (at least for all you know) it'll be fine ;)
