So, tonight I whipped out my kart and had some TC issues. The kart was sitting on a slight slope and trying to start from a stand still. The belt was eaten down into the driven and got jammed inbetween the rivots and mangled up in there to the point that it popped the retaining ring off the can face and then disabled the kart. I think it stretched the belt and sent it to retirement. To me, it looks like the driver closes in too early and doesn't seem to work right. It's a CAT99 TC.

Please excuse errors, I'm on my phone.

Has anyone had this happen to them or know what would cause the belt to be jammed down into the rivets of the driven?

There aren't any sorry. This happened on the street. I used a pair of channel locks to un-jam the belt and then take off the chain so I could limp it off the street and into the garage.

I think I may have found the root of the problem...

The spring is shot and the buttons were worn down. The belt measures 27 1/16 OD so I'm going to go find a chart and see if it stretched.

EDIT: According to the chart on www.gokartsupply.com, the belt stretched 1/16". Does anyone think this is a problem warranting a new belt?
