Gonna buy a new welder and plasma cutter, any suggestions on a reasonable of either. Limits 1500$ I live in Hawaii and from what i can see so far is that I can order on online with mad shipping or get one from lowes, or possibly craiglist. Any suggestions is appreciated.

That welder should be more than enough for a go kart, I'm sure you would have no regets buying it. As for the plasma cutter,

1. I haven't really found the need for a plasma cutter all too often (maybe once or twice it would make things easier but they are still possible without one).
2. Not sure of the quality of a NAPA unit. Could be very good, although I feel like it just has NAPA slapped on the side.

That said you may really enjoy having a plasma cutter (I would like one, but not enough to justify the cost), and if that's the case by all means get one!

EDIT: have you at least tried getting a shipping quote from northern tool? They have free shipping on all hobart welders, so maybe a discounted price to Hawaii?

Northern Tool has free shipping on their Hobarts right now, you should check and see if that includes Hawaii.

Thanks for the advice guys, ended up getting a lincoln pro mig 140 from lowes, most of the stuff I found online that needed to be shipped was pricey, even for in store pick up. Im happy with the price on this welder and should do the job. still shopping around for the plasma. Im trying to convince my wife i really need one,,,lol

Cyberweld.com has the thermal dynamics cutmaster 42 for 915 delivered, my brother in law got one from them and loves it (costs over 1200 local). IMO the best thing you can do is go to your LWS see what they carry and then shop for that brand, then when you need parts/consumables to get your rig going mid project you have a local source.
