Just a silly quick thread from a guy that's eaten almost everything...

Chicken tastes like chicken!

Frog legs: probably the closest thing to chicken (mixed with fish flavor)...everything else...not so much!!!!

Soooo...as we delve into the world of exotic meats...over and over we hear:"Tastes like chicken! "

Sooo...how do you describe Pork? "Tastes like chicken! " NOOOO..it doesn't..it takes like pig! And armadillo tastes like armadillo...turtle tastes like turtle...even one species of fish tastes different from the other...

Funny...it's not like people say ..."What does a carrot taste like?"....Oh...kinda like a cross between a celery and a beet....

I mean really..think about it...describing food by comparison just really doesn't work, does it?

No Carrots taste like Dirt.
The Dirt You grow them in.
Seriously grow some in sand, or Potting soil or Garden soil
They will pick up different tastes.
We should have Bob grow some in his Hydroponics to see what they taste like.

Seems to make sense with frog legs.

I thought crocodile tasted like iguana. Alligator doesn't. Alligator doesn't even taste like alligator. Alligator is like freshwater eel. Both of them will taste different bite to bite. It's a little bit like the difference between the white and dark meat of a turkey but much more pronounced, and both alligator and eel are delicious fried.

I worked for a place that pounded pork thin, breaded it, added some cajun spice...
Called it gator. People from Chicago don't know. Tastes like chicken!

You are very close to correct on the gyros...they are usually a mix of meats...(as are hot dogs ...but hot dogs don't have lamb in them...and gyros usually have less rat hairs and feeces....

BTW: A lot of seafood places cookie cutter shark and sell them as scallops....hard to detect unless you are really sharp...because an overcooked scallop is VERY hard to differentiate from a piece of the right kind of shark! A properly cooked sea scallop..not so much....but again...people don't know....
