Sorry, by port timed l meant. Intake timing. The intake ports and the piston act as the intake and exhaust valves. The window in the piston is your intake valve.
l don’t want get too basic and be insulting, and l don’t know what your experience with 2 strokes is. So let me know what you want to know and what dont.

I had it all marked before I took it apart.

So I removed the head and there was an arrow and Japanese writing on the piston facing the exhaust port. The intake side of the piston had no markings. So I‘m 100% sure the piston is in the bore the correct way.

The ports on the piston are not at equal height either so if I put the piston in backwards I don’t think it would even try to fire but I’m not sure about that.

I am hopeful it runs and idle like a normal modern day engine but if the seals are shot it’s display only. I can take it to the shows prime it and fire it to show people it at least isn’t locked up or 100% non functional.

Last ditch effort I go undoing the whole shebang and grab a caliper find and make my own seals?

Seals? Yer referring to the round rubber ones on the crankshaft? Or the seal (gasket) between the case halves?
Why do you say thats the end of da road?

does the crankshaft have ball or roller bearings?

Yes the crank seals I haven’t had any time to get out to the garage today. I think that could be causing the idle issues.
