Tables

Built a dining table, coffee table, and end table for a guy last week. This was just the framing and he is going to add the wood later. Finished late at night so had some crappy pictures, but the bases turned out nicely. It was all made of 14 ga 1.5"x3" rectangular tube.

It was pretty cool to see the metal shavings lining up with the magnetic field emitted from the mig gun welding lead (sorry no pics of that). Not as much fun cleaning up the garage after all that grinding.

We took 2 large magnets off some speakers n tied a rope to it... when its time to clean the 'steel' filing, we wrap a towel round the magnet n drag it through... when done... unwrap towel and shake out...... beats the lil metal splinters that get in those painful places...lol.

I've worked extensively with metal & wood but, never have I considered using both in the same project, with the exception of a plywood seat base on a go kart...

Steel frame tables usually go hand in had with glass tops...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not critiquing your work, just the design concept

Coincidentally- I just made tops for a couple of coffee tables and designed and built one from scratch for a client. The wood tops replaced glass inlays.

Anyway- put the tops on and shot them with paint (outside). I barely got the gun unplugged when it started to drizzle......

LMAO yup mother nature is a typical pain in the butt. Its been too cold to work here.
