swingarm with live axle

I am making plans to mount a swingarm to my motovox minibike and wanted to try and use those douglas aluminum rims to give more pop to my bike (as well as run more aggressive tread). But I don't see any douglas 6" rim that doesnt have a requirement for a wheelhub (since they are usually made for karts). I was wondering if I could run that gopowersports live axle kit for minibikes on this swingarm so that it is easy to mount that rim? a lot of different retailers sell hubs for lixe axles so I was wondering if I could make it work for a minibike application.

Not sure what live axle kit you are referring to. I found one on GPS with a 1" axle. The swing arm you linked has all metric bits and what appears to be a roughly 1/2" axle with some super loose bushings hanging on it. Can it be made to work? Absolutely, but it depends on the users ability to adapt and overcome.

alright, just wanted to make sure, if i had to, i would be able to make it work, i just gotta plan it out first

How will you hinge the pivot at the frame? if the bike is a solid rear, you'll have to weld a pivot point on the frame....if I understand what you're doing.

yeah i have everything all planned out, where im mounting the pivot, shock, etc. just wanted to know if using a live axle in this situation was good, wanting to use a douglas racing wheel to add some pop to my bike

that is rad bro! love it! exactly what im planning to do with my bike except with a different swing arm setup (ebay pitbike swingarm), ill just cut the back off mostly and weld in the hangers at the rear

heres kinda something i whipped up on a whim, im gonna be shaving most of the brackets off since i do not need them, but also where im planning to mount the axle hangers. this is pretty much the swingarm that i am going to be using so I wanted to brace it up a little bit if that is possible (anywhere would help since im looking for a long lasting solution)

when i get back from college, its go time!! i might even start a build thread if im up for it

edit: also going to be modifying one of these hubs to use for the front, drill out the center hole to accept 6201 bearings, and get some 12mm tube to make my own custom length spacers so that it is a perfect fit

You're going to buy a $130 live axle hub and "drill" out the center to accept a bearing? Why not just get a hub designed for non-driven wheels? You could always replace the bearings in a hub to fit the "tube"

its probably better if i fabricate a hub on my own since this is a different application so most likely thats whay im going to do
