So re-introducing this POS to the world. It's a '73 GT550 3cyl 2 stroke. Engine seized, carbs missing, it rolls but tranny is locked up. Pretty much it's just the frame that has any sort of use.
I also have a Predator 670cc 22hp engine I just picked up off a buddy of mine. Plan A included building up the bike as it would be factory but getting a 40 series TC & installing the B&S. Thing is would the CVT give me enough low-end torque to get rolling? My brother weighs 260 and this is for him. Here's the stuff to do the math with:
Wheel Diameter: 24"
Rear Sprocket: 42T #530
Factory Drive Sprocket: 14T #530
Max Engine RPM: 4k
Cruise Engine RPM: 3600
Gear Ratio: 3:1
Estimated Max Speed: 95mph
Weight of Frame/Wheels: 90-120lbs (ballpark)
Weight of Engine: 106lbs
Weight of Rider: 260lbs
Concerns:
- Will a 40 series give out enough torque without slipping?
- Does anyone even make 5/8" center bore #530 sprocket?
- What amperage does the stator deliver?
- Would I be better off with a 3-direction tranny or just keep it simple?
