Hi guys im new to site i decided to join because i want to start to build a custom off road go kart this summer. I've been looking at other peoples builds and looking at parts but one thing i cant seem to find is how to join an A arm or trailing arm to the frame. I have seen at least on front a arms tie rod ends being used but i just dont know. Usually what i see is a tube with a bolt threw it and i was just wondering if there are bearings or bushings or anything like that in there or if its just a bolt threw the tube. Any advice would be awesome and pictures even better haha. Thanks

Proper way would be either ball joints, or a tube with bronze/poly bushings in it with a through bolt. A zerk fitting is always good too.

If you're going to build one, you could start looking on Craigslist for an ATV frame. Depending on what you find, you could get steering, A-arms, trailing arm and all kinds af stuff to poach for your build. I just bought a Suzuki quad frame for $20. It included front tires, too.

thanks guys. one other thing i was wondering about is the frame material i was thinking of using 1 1/4 x1 1/4 square stock but its only a 1/16 thick idk if that would be strong enough what do you guys think?

Depends on the frame design, the vehicles weight, power plant, where it will be ridden, how it will be ridden, etc. I think it is possible you could make a frame that would use that, but I would certainly want many second opinions on the design. HINT: triangulation ;)
