Surplus Center Shocks

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I've been thinking about building an off-road go kart sometime soon. I was wondering if anyone has used the Surplus Center coil over shocks for 12 bucks. I looked in the paper catalog and in the specs it says that the spring rate is 110lbs/inch. I don't know a lot about shocks, and I was wondering if this is the same thing as the max compression? if it is, does that mean the max compression is 330 lbs since the travel is 3 inches? i ordered a pair today for my 3202 dog.
i know they work in back from what others have said; i wanna see if they're soft enough for the front.

Those are some pretty awesome shocks, though they are 1/2 an inch longer than stock yerf-dog shocks so it will change some angles unless you modify shock mounts.

i am......SHOCKED (hey, you know it was coming) by the enormous improvement in both ride and handling by installing these on back.
didnt try 'em up front yet but worst case is just moving the shock mounts outboard a smidgen.
looks like they'd clear if installed upside down in front but most non-gas shocks don't care for that.
seriously, it's like night and day over the stock spring-only units.
what usually threw me up into the seatbelts was hardly felt.

today moved the SC shocks to the front so i could try out a pair of quad shocks i had laying around out back.
they're seemingly much too stiff as installed and feel very overdamped for my cart's very very light front end based on the bounce test.
no actual test drive yet as motor's out.
am going to move the lower shock mount outboard; i think that'll take care of most of the "overshocked" problem, but test drive first.
will report further.

sorry, forgot about this thread.
they work very well after getting them located properly.
now have them in front and rear.
the quad shocks were about 300% too stiff so i got two more SC units.

I've been looking as well, Surplus Center is out of those and isn't likely to get anymore (according to them).
