I’m excited to announce the Chopping Kart has been approved for a Guinness World Record attempt this year! It’s been a long nail biting waiting process, but it’s now time to break some records. Let’s see how many we can break in one day. For those of you that are just tuning in. Me and a buddy built a shopping cart go kart awhile back and there’s a post on here about that. It’s a true shopping cart with a kart front end and rear end, not just a basket over a yard kart. The current record is 71mph. Everyone is invited to come out to Yello Belly in Dallas,Tx to watch and witness. The date is in June, but the exact date is kinda loose and will update with a firm date as it gets closer. I’am also looking for any help or support I can get. We need to do a rebuild of certain parts of the kart to handle the projected top speed. Rebuilding the steering with new heim joints. New tires, it’s currently running on used tires. And upgrades to one of the engines that we have. Then there’s safety gear, helmet, suit, gloves. I’m not asking for help just so I can sit on my ***, I will make this happen out of my own pocket but it will help to see this project through and ease some of the burden. So even if you know of connections that I can email, call, or visit let me know and I will reach out. I have already reached out to several companies like Hoosier, Douglas Wheels, Sparco, Recaro, etc. I will be visiting GoPowersports this week. I can’t wait to grab this record and officially have a Guinness World Record!
We are still kicking around a few different options with engines.
Option 1 Current Predator 212 with more mods. Rod, piston, side case cover, upgraded carb, upgraded head, flywheel, stiffer springs and new cam.
Option 2 is a Predator 420 with mods. Rod, piston, upgraded head, valve springs, and cam.
Option 3 is a Lifan 200 5 speed. No additional mods except for mounting.
This will require the most extensive engine mount rebuilding, maybe even kart rebuilding on the rear end.
