Maybe it's just karma, but my CL is packed with some good deals and I am flat broke. This one caught my eye. If all of the info is correct and true, a bored out 250 with an auto trans. and reverse, with the wheels, and shocks. If I had the cash to make an offer, I would. The Pittsburgh Craigslist has some good finds in comparison to how it usually is. There are a decent number of Odysseys on there too.

They're only deals when money is bountiful. They're all bank breakers when you wallet looks like this.

take out a loan for 1$ and buy a tire, lol, i'm in almost the opposite position, i can afford good deals (cheep deals), but there are none, if i remember correctly my best deal on a non-running b&s was 140 (5hp flatty, from tiller). when its time to buy i'll just have to hope that a local mower shop well give me a good deal.

wow i need to get tires. sucks no one in my area does this kind of stuff. all the junk yards closed and i cant even get stuff from the dump anymore, because someone tripped while garbage picking and sued the town.

on second look that quad isnt a good deal
i mean the engine is good but u dont get any front swing arms of rear axil or steering system.i could bet an entire running quad for $400aus

I know. I could easily. It's just that I hate being in debt to mom cause then it's extra leverage. Even if she doesn't make me pay her back, I have to work it off. You all know how moms are with stuff like that. They look to be balloon tires and the two on the bottom...car tires?

Don't mind the girl. Lol. This is the photo he sent me. Now to convince mom to lend me money and tell her this is a worthy investment. He said it needs a cent. clutch, an e brake cable, bulbs, and a battery. From what I see online it has a TC meaning either it's a bad belt or he trashed the whole TC. Probably a 40 series.

It does not need a chain drive clutch, if you take off the torque converter in attempts to by pass a broken torque converter you'll be changing the gear ratio similar to starting a car off in 5th gear smoking the clutch immediately.

I would not purchase this kart unless he has the clutches and say something is broken on them, if you post pictures we can most likely walk you through repairs or help you find a belt etc.

Despite the obvious camber issues on the front left wheel which caused uneven tread wear when they rode the kart on concrete, the Manco XTK in the picture is a nice kart. Most likely it has a series 30 Comet torque converter and a 6.5hp Subaru Robins engine.

It looks like they may have a had a collision in the kart at one time, though more than once we've run into steering parts have been welded in the incorrect position. The mount for the shock on A-Arm itself sometimes gets placed wrongly, sometimes individuals replace one shock and not another, parts get mixed up but it needs to be fixed.

For 200 dollars a kart that size without a torque converter is something that will require another 200 dollars worth of clutches, 30 dollars worth of belt, and if perhaps a new carb if this one is not rebuild-able. I look at this from a cost benefit perspective when people are low on money they can't always afford to purchase extras to get it running. As a business we have to look at what a kart will cost to get back to 100. It may be too much of an expenditure.

I guess we think in different ways, you see, if the clutches are still there, they can be fixed, there isn't much that cant be fixed with a welder, a grinder, a lathe and a file. Sure, you might need a belt but that's $30, not much really. If you need to replace the clutches then I'd just change it to a pulley tensioner system. I'd be more keen to just find an old motorbike and use the engine from it. The A arm problem is just cut and weld, fixed. I have never come across a non rebuild able carb either? Sure, I've had ones that have been so varnished up you have to dig all the varnish out to get to the jet. You just work at it until there isn't much left and then soak it in petrol or thinners, clean it again the next day and your off. I've also had seized butterflies, striped threads, heavily pitted venturies ect ect, They've all worked again, or are awaiting use on my bench. Unless the carb is cracked then I can't see why you would need a new one.

I guess we come from opposite ends of this hobby, you have access to all the parts you could ever want, usually work on "prebuilt" go karts and have a limited amount of time to work on them. I'm the opposite, I don't have the access to parts, not for reasonable cost anyway, almost anything I am likely to work on is home built, my Chinese buggy I've modifying is the only "bought" go kart I've ever worked on. I have plenty of time and a fair amount of parts that can be modified or adapted. So naturally, we would look at this project different ways. I would buy it, even just as a donor for another project, lots of $$$ of parts in there. It's worth it from my point of view, hell, it's a bloody bargain as far as I'm concerned. $200 for a complete, good condition buggy with only drive line issues, why wouldn't you buy it?

you will get a nice subie, 10hp! most likely a tc (a tc could be considered a type of centrifugal clutch).if it doesn't come with a tc, sell engine on your black widow kart, get the subie and the better of the two tc you own, put those on black widow, use money from selling black widow engine, and maybe 1 of the tc to buy a dirt bike, motorcycle engine, modify manco suspension, beef-up the frame, add engine to manco.......... yea..

p.s. i have heard of better deals than 200, but if you can look at it, confirm it has a decent tc, no major problems, then find one problem (like that worn tire), and negotiate the price down a bit
