This one's really growing on me. Maybe clean up the lines (higher resolution?) and a different font?

Not to sound pedantic but, what's goin' on with the wheels?

my wheels? what's with them??

Nice one sid. I'd lean towards a less modern helmet though. I like yours.

Kelly

Thank you,
the easiest helmet to draw
half shells require some sort of "head" which was counterintuitive I guess.. and the sixties full shells just look odd with that manifest of a visor.

on the "white" version.. yupp;
I removed one circle,
I thought I could add some sort of stylised shadow to 'widen' the rear wheel...
and I think it looks okay on the "black" one, but I somehow removed the wrong circle on the white one.

make it larger in diameter *shrugs* I'll test and see; I was pretty happy with the doodle tires, but somehow as soon as they're round it looks odd to me that they're unequal in size.

Kelly, maybe I can simulate a more seventies helmet;
it's basically just the round chin line and less edgy visor, right?

I'll play around with it and see what happens.
But not today (yesterday.. its 3am)

Maybe "DIYGOKARTS.COM" in large type across the top, and in smaller type along the bottom, "Wrench, Wheel, Wreck, Repeat"?
large as in pt72 or large as in capitals (as you just did)?

the other way around would be more pleasant to read, not?
"Wrench, Wheel, Wreck, Repeat (at) diygokarts dot com!"

Large as in physically larger print, easier to read from a passing glance. And you may be correct in the order. I certainly did not coin the phrase, but I love it (how long has it been a staple in my signature line?)

I 'thought' this 'logo' thing was to advetise the site!? When in advertising you want ppl to see what it is that the sign/'logo' is for. I personally have never seen a 'how-to-drive/wreck' thread...so no real need to push the wheel or the guy hittin a wall. We ARE gearheads but its the 'idea' NOT the gearwrencher that wants to 'build/make/fabricate'.

I believe this site is for ideas and help in attaining said ideas(and 'fixing' is an idea, if possible to fix... Snobs just by a new one(hence no need for this site).

Now if we are creating a 'club' logo/insignia, then ALL these ideas n thoughts are good(but ive never seen a resturant 'logo'/sign show something like....'eat'---'burn energy'---'poop'---'come eat here')... Im just sayin.

In advertising its easy to stray away from the "purpose" of advertising(hence y ive stopped improvising my submission... Idea/work on idea/gokart... to me thats this site!

Very valid points, it depends on how you look at it:

You're absolutely correct in saying

this site is for ideas and help in attaining said ideas(and 'fixing' is an idea, if possible to fix...

&, if you notice, most threads go like

"I bought this kart & had to fix a few things to get it right (wrench) then I was driving it (wheel) & something went wrong (wreck). What was it & how do I fix it (repeat)?"

or the shorter version

"I bought a kart & something is wrong, how do I fix it"

Then we provide the necessary answers...

So, you see, this site/forum is about wrench, wheel, wreck, repeat.

Also, I can tell you, our fearless leader likes the idea...

I adopted the "Wrench, Wheel, Wreck, Repeat" mantra quite some time ago, as I do feel it defines us gearheads. Heck, it's not even limited to go kart gearheads either. That's just how it is when you turn your own wrench. We are in a constant state of building, modification or repair. No- the intent is not "let's crash our junk into a wall and start over again". However- we are what we are. Since we do NOT drop high dollars on shiny crap and when it DOES break, throw it out and buy new again, we often find ourselves wrenching away. Be it on something we've homebrewed, or a proof-of-concept we're shaking the bugs out of, or our next modification.

My most recent example of this might be one of my other side hobbies, modified lawn tractors. Some of you might be aware of the MULE project. I built it up (Wrench) and use it quite alot for work and for play (Wheel). Recently, I was offroading and accidentally shattered the transaxle housing (Wreck). So, I bought a junk transaxle housing, stuffed it full of good gears from my broken housing, and away I went again (Repeat!). Furthermore- along the way, I have discovered MULE's weaknesses and can address some of them directly, like fabricating a steel transaxle truss that counters the torsional force that broke the prior one. In addition, I have begun building MULEII, a similarly-focused machine that will entirely negate several weak points of MULE, by eliminating them entirely.

THIS is the sort of thing that "Wrench, Wheel, Wreck, Repeat" represents, and any true gearhead can certainly not only understand the concept, but dammit- we're PROUD of it too! I'm not some drip in a beemer on the side of the road waiting for AAA because I'm out of wiper fluid! I'm the guy that changed out a bad fuel pump in a mall parking lot all those years ago with nothing but a couple tools and my wits! My name is Chris, and I am proud gearhead!

Can I get an "amen"?

What this is is a motto attached to a logo. In case you need to know heres one
definition of it.
"a phrase or word expressing the spirit or purpose of a group, often inscribed on a badge, banner, etc."

The idea was for a logo, so having a motto attached to the logo is what i think would work.
