Subaru robin ex27 rope start

Hi, new ti site.
Have subaru ex27 robin on backhoe. Usually starts first pull. Have been using and sat for couple days and now no spark. Replced spark plug ,coil and flywheel.set gap with business card.still no spark.the new flywheel has the magnets for charing on the inside and mine doesnt. It however bolts right up and magnet lines up with coil. Should it still spark with this flywheel

Sounds like the kill switch wire might be pinched somewhere? Are you sure you got the right parts? Key still in the slot on the flywheel and crank? Why did you replace the flywheel?

Have kill switch disconnected.

Replaced flywheel because i already replaced spark plug and coil and the magnet leading edge looked off as sugested by another website. Starting to suspect bad new coil.

Is there a low oil sensor?

When flywheels go bad there is usually shrapnel involved and the engine is junk.

FYI: EX27 is a 9.0 HP engine, OHV.

1. Spark plugs go bad (but can last many years and can be serviced, cleaned, filed and re-gapped until there is no center and grounding electrode left)
2. Flywheels can (and should) last the life of the engine with normal usage
3. Coils go bad sometimes and need replacing

I have heard of faulty coils and faulty spark plugs right out of the box.
Just saying all these new parts may have been unnecessary...

I'd love to see the old flywheel and how the magnet "looked off". This is the first time I have ever heard of replacing basically the whole ignition system in an effort to remedy a no-spark condition. Hope you did not exceed the purchase price (or value) of the engine with that replacement flywheel.

Do you in fact know there was no spark or it just failed to start that day and you assumed it was no spark?

Does have oil sensor which is also disconnected, have reordered another coil .

How did you test for a no spark issue?
Do you have a multimeter to measure the coil?
The ignition system is pretty durable and doesn't fail often.
Did the fly wheel key shear? Was the new flywheel a direct replacement? Is it timed the same?
The wire from the coil needs to be open. Ground it to kill spark.
Is the sparkplug wire good. They can pull out of the boot and not make contact with the plug.
Is this used by only you or is it a town pump? Did someone else mess with it?
Ive had old engines that have been outside forever, neglected, and rusted over and they still spark.

Coil has built in circuit so multimeter wouldnt be accurate .not sure if original coil was bad, but after changing coil, spark plug and finnally the flywheel I still could not see or feel any spark. Friend has same engine which is working and also saw no spark. So i buttoned mine up and it fired up thanks for the input.

Wire wad also replaced. Motor ran o backhoe most of the day. Still if you pull plug wire cant see any spark.dont figure.

You have to touch the body of the plug to chassis ground to see the spark. Usually on the head by the plug hole.
If it's not grounded it won't spark.
If you hold the plug by the metal part and crank it over, you can tell of it has spark that way too.
