Hi everyone. This is my first post on behalf of a young lad who has bought a kart without any knowledge. I was presented with a bag containing the old clutch and a brand new one. He said the chain doesn’t fit the new clutch. That’s because not only are there more teeth on it, thei pitch is different and obviously uses a larger link than the 219 of the original clutch.
So I looked at the original clutch and took it apart. There are no springs on the shoes.i think he bought it with the clutch not working.
My question is where could I get suitable springs for him.
I looked at a Honda GX160 clutch and the springs are too small and short.
Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.

Subaru Robin engines are one of the best kart/industrial engines ever made, right up there with Honda.

Show us pics of what you have; kart, engine, chain, clutch. Just upload them right to the site, no middleman needed. It’s probably a #35 chain clutch. #40/41 chain has larger links and rollers, but then again it could be any chain or chain pitch/teeth, chain is chain.

@JimD could assist you on the clutch springs, he’s the Max-Torque guy.

Is the kart a racing chassis (low to the ground with about 1 1/2" in clearance or do you have 4" to 5" clearance under the frame? Is there a name on the chassis? Are the tires knobby or slicks? These help us judge what you have.
Pin center to center measurements are fine if you are using a vernier caliper but if you are using a tape measure it will not be very accurate.
219 chain is .300
#35 chain is .375
#41 or #420 chain is .500 (this is now roller chain) roller is .306
#40 chain is .500 and the roller is .312 in diameter
