i recently bought a american sportworks utc with a 265cc subaru (robyn) engine. its basicly a glorified golf cart. my problem is, when going uphill, its eather loosing power, or losing torqe from the torqe converter setup. the drive system is a cvtech belt drive system (replacement for the comet 40 series. iv had the tc driver pully off, and it seems loose to me, but im new to this setup. my quistion is. ; are there any ways to get extra hp out of my engine, and is there a way to visually inspect the driver and driven pullys for wear on springs, lost bushings ect. everything functions fine on flat ground. accually it runs very well on flat ground. but hills make it come to a standstill. i know something is wrong, because just last summer i was pulling hill that make it come to a stop now. Please help with any info u can send my way. thanx for any help

no, Im sure its not the belt. i just put this one on not more than 15-20 hours (running time) ago. along with an oil change, new plug, cleand the carb bowl. all the routine mantanance. still having the same problem. the engine manuale also recomends that i clean the combustion chamber after 150 plus hours, but i dont think that would cause a lack of torqe to pull hils. but as ive said b4 im new to this setup. my brother seems to think that the springs in the driver, and driven pully may be streached or sprung. Im really at a lose as 2 what it might b.

Have you always had no torque with this setup, or has it just started?

If you have always had it, then it could quite likely be your gear ratio. Post the tooth count of CVT and the axle sprocket. Also provide us with the rear tyre diameter

to b honest, its slowly progressed since ive had it. but this spring it seemed to be really bad, so i bought a belt, thinking mine was streched or worn. but even wth the new belt it comes to a stop on hills. ive checked the brakes to b sure they werent sticking makin me think it was loosen power. and the brakes were fine. bearings ar all in good shape in the hubs. im still not finding the problem

hey guys, sorry it took so long to get back to you, ive been outa state, so i wasnt close to my buggy to get pics ect. but the good news is, i found my problem. my cvtech cvt driver pulley sheered off the top spring seat.(apparently the rubber/plastic dosnt hold up well) so without the top spring seat, my pulley wasnt opening back up all the way to give me low gear. my new question is, does anyone know where i can get a replacment? there is no way im gonna pay 350$ for a whole new driver pulley when all i need is a rebuild... i just cant seem to find anyone who sells just the seat... Please help if you can.

pictures / video of cvtech 600 series. need the red external bushing.. where 2 buy?

the first pic is the cvt removed.. notice the sping isnt holding the pulley apart.. pic #2 shows the removal of spring washers spring seat, and the bad red external bushing. pic #3 is the movable sid of the pully with the clip ring still in, even though i already had all the guts out.. ive read another forum saying overheating do to over ideling can cause it to malfunction. i had a throttle cable malfunction a fiew months ago i think may have caused it to overheat.
the video is a dry run of the pulley while its mounted.. it clearly showes the pulley isnt opening back up all the way due to the spring not being able to pull it back. if anyone can tell me where to get just the red external bushing, please let me know. ive went to cvtech.aab website. found the part # 0540-3002 but im not a parts dealer, so i cant buy it from them. any help would b greatly appriciated

If its like a comet, 1st hole is more speed less torque. 2nd even speed /torque. 3rd more torque less speed......

Have you tried calling American sportworks? I'm sure they can get you just the part you need, versus making you buy a new clutch. That would just be bad for business......
