stump burnin' (and they said it wouldnt work....)

so if you saw THIS thread, you knew about the dead pine I cut down for a nabe, I finally got around to "removing" the stump this weekend, I would like to note however, that approx 2-3 weeks before I cut down the tree, some random hillbilly stopped his walk to talk to me in front of my house and he said "I bet you wish your neighbor would cut down that tree", I replied "I'm going to cut it down and burn out the stump, he said "That doesn't always work" and I started chuckling which I believe he found to be quite rude (which was great for me) and he walked away

now down to business, I started a small fire with left over pine-cones and twigs around his yard, the stump still had a ton of sap in it but I got the fire going, as the day went on I added some scrap wood pieces to keep the fire alive, I went to bed and got up early to shoot birds on a farm this morning and couldn't believe all the smoke I was seeing, it was still burning and it still is! this stump is almost history, no back-breaking picking and shoveling, and no damage to chainsaw or drillbits by trying to "grind" it out, and heck, my girls even enjoyed the warmth from it a little today

the first 2 pictures are for yesterday around 2 pm, the dark picture is from 6:30 am today, the bull was on the farm I went bird shootin and the other pics are from when I got back home

oh and I almost forgot to mention, it rained overnight AND this afternoon AND this darn thing kept aburnin

A way I do it is to take a long drill bit, about 10-12" and drill a bunch of holes through the top. Then I'll take some kerosene and dump it in. Come back a few hours later and dump more in, maybe do that 4-5 times. Let it soak I'm over a day or two, two usually works better. Then I'll drill some holes at the base. Drill them at an angle from the base outside down to the center inside. Then just light it up. Over a day it'll be all ash depending on the size, maybe two days of smoldering. All ash, down to the roots. Cover with dirt and forget.

I did the drill and poisen thing for three stumps. 2 of them are bushy trees again. FML. Should have burned them.

I hate that! We were burning some pine needles a few weeks back. And 10 minutes after they were burned up and gone the Fire dept. showed up. I told them "hmm... that is weird, nothing to see here... I have not even smelled smoke today" They said ok thanks we will go talk to the complainer. So I watched their truck leave and roll over to my neighbors house. Witch! Well now we know, what kind of neighbor she is.
Payback is a witch. She will get hers.

We have had some overly large bon fires on the property, like after trimming trees. I was always worried about the Fire Dept. Funny when you are standing 25 feet back and your face is burning. I always say somebody go get the marshmallows! If the fire dept shows.... "What?... you guys want a marshmallow?
