I had received three clutches from someone who didnt want them several months ago, two were 3/4 bore and one was 5/8 bore. One of the 3/4 clutches I am using already the other one has something wrong with it but I don't know much about them so dont know what.

Anyway I first had to use a press to get the two half's of the clutch apart since they were seized together, I figured it was rusted together or something. There was a little surface rust but not enough to stick them together like they were. After cleaning the rust the two half still fit together way too tight. The clutch seems like it has a brass sleeve on it, is that supposed to be there? What is the outer cup supposed to rotate on? the area that has the brass sleeve or is that shaft supposed to rotate in the clutch part.

Is it possible to replace the brass shaft if someone had messed that one up or already changed it.

I was planning on grinding down the 1" shaft on a lawnboy engine to fit the 3/4 clutch since I had the clutch. Now if I can't get that clutch to work I may have to get a new one so might just go with the 1" bored but the cheapest I found is $79 and really don't want to spend anything more.

Also would one of these clutches even work on the lawnboy engine since it is a two stroke or would the rpms probably be too high for it? do they make clutches for 2 strokes? wheres the cheapest to get one.

Thanks for anyhelp

Yes and it is changeable. It is actually supposed to be pressed into the upper portion so that it can spin freely on the bottom section. Though it does seem like the upper shaft on the base of the clutch has been destroyed so assembly will be impossible again. You're cheaper just buying a new MaxTorque clutch at this point.
