Stripped Set Screw

I have a stripped out set screw on an old Briggs 5hp engine, I am replacing that engine with a brand new one on a Streaker, but the last thing I have to do is remove the back clutch piece that is being held on by a set screw. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would Carefully drill it out, try not to damage the crankshaft.
No wait, I would buy a new 20 dollar clutch on ebay.

OK...now that you've had a good look at my A$$ (because I left it hanging out) start with the smallest twist drill and try to keep it in the center of the bolt. Then move up a size or two...angle the drill to keep the bit walking whichever way it needs to go to keep it centered.

As soon as you get a good sized hole...try the appropriate sized 'Eze Out' but don't force it and break it off.

A generous shot of WD-40 Specialist penetrating oil will help .DO NOT USE REGULAR WD-40.

If that fails...keep moving up in bit sizes untill you are almost at the same size hole hole....then peel the remnants out....Works for me.

I went and bought a comet clutch assembly with built in keyway, however had a keyway problem with the shaft, I had a really hard time getting it off, in fact I didn't do it, Northern Tool did it for me. Very cool of service department to do that for me, bought guy a soda.

Yes....

I went to Northern Tool and bought the 208cc engine that was on sale for $99, found a coupon code online and got another $20 off, so after tax, $85. The replacement gas tank for the Briggs alone was $108.

Bolted on the new engine and put a speedometer app on my phone, kart is going up hill at 23mph... definitely happy with performance so far.

I do need to go and get a spring for throttle return, but very happy with outcome.

I hope it works out well for you. Personally, I've had more bad experiences with just a few Northern Tool purchases than I have MANY HF ones. Which is really sad....because if pressed...I could walk to NT... while HF is halfway across town...(actually city...but in Texas...you're either "in the country...or in town!")
