Hi from vegas. Been awhile since my last build. It's in the process of being finished, hopefully by my next days off. I still need to modify the motor, finish some welds and paint also some wiring. Then it's off to the dmv to get a plate. Let me know what you think!

Yep, this is version 2.0. I built a similar bike in 2015 with a 420cc predator that's also on this site. Thought I would stick with a lighter bike this go around.

In some states they can issue a VIN under certain circumstances. But I'd think it would need lights, of course I don't know NV law.

In Nevada you can chop off a head tube and fork and register that. For instance this will be registered as a 150cc scooter cause that's the front end and vin#

And I have built a 420cc before that charged the battery. But all lighting on this bike is led, so low draw on a motorcycle battery. I'll just charge it every once in a while.

Streetlegal in vegas means, headlight, taillight, turn signals, speedometer, fenders, mirrors, brakes and a 17 digit vin#

hmm. so i wonder if i can do same in california? Has to be some laws/ways around it.

Like put a VW engine in your mini bike and call it a WV or something :) i saw a guy on the road in a pocket bike! or a medium motorcycle looking bike? was not motorcycle size for sure.

Searching i read this

"cannot be insured or registered, this fact alone makes them illegal to operate on public roads in many states."

So if you can register and insure it then you can drive it on the street? hmm...

I had a '53 pan head chopper that I sold the engine from to a guy in Stockholm Sweden and then called the DMV about what to do since my frame had no numbers and I had an 85 Evoloution that I was going to put on it. They titled it by the engine vin as a '53. That made mine the only 1953 Evoloution in existence, which was kind of neat since they didn't start producing the Evo until 1984.

Profit, type in (70mph 420cc) on this site. It's page 9 of the introduce yourself page, you will see a complete streetlegal version of a similar bike

Nice.

Wondering about california on motorcycle classification. My mini bikes have 212cc engines on them and the DMV says this

"A motorcycle is a motor vehicle that has a seat or saddle for the use of the rider, and is designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground per California Vehicle Code (CVC) 400 (a) and whose motor displaces more than 150 cubic centimeters (150cc). "

My mini bike meets all that :). BUT, all mini bikes are banned in california except for private property use...ugh....im going to get a ticket soon...riding in my neighborhood. can only do loops in my backyard for so much before i want to loop the block :)

The last bike I built was registered as a 02 gs 500

Even if your bike had all legal items on it , it would cause a problem without an existing vin

There's a loophole with Harley's. They didn't start putting vin #'s on frames until '68 so it's perfectly legal.

Profit, even if your stuff was registered in nv, it would have to pass inspection in California. Even with c.a.r.b certificate on engine i think they would still give you grief.

If I get pulled over in vegas, the copper won't question insurance or registration. He will only care about physical legal parts and the fact I have a motorcycle license along with reg and Ins of course. Just move to nv, problem solved
