I recently posted a topic about a chopper project but instead Im considering making something similar but street legal. These are the requirements for it to be street legal
Has a motor with a rating of 2.7 brake horsepower or less or if the motor is an internal combustion engine, with a capacity of 50 cubic centimeters piston displacement or less.
So that means 2.7hp or less and 50cc or less right? I need it to go atleast 30mph what do you guys recommend. I was thinking maybe a briggs 2.5hp but I really dont know much about this stuff.

Any help is apreciated!

A briggs 2.5 is WAY more than 50cc, those are moped laws, you can register a bigger chopper as a motorcycle and have the freedom to legally make over 30mph and go on the highway.

That sounds like an OR thing. Less than 2.7hp OR if it's a gas engine, less than 50cc.
If so, a person could EASILY get a B/S 3.5hp engine, swap the flywheel cover from an old B/S 2hp and there you have it... the model # is in the flywheel cover. A B/S 3.5hp will have plenty of power for a project like that.

I think it means that IF its electric or other, then it must be less than 2.7hp
IF its a petrol engine then it must be 50cc or less.
Even a 2hp briggs is more than 50cc. The most powerful engine you could probably put on that would be those 49/50cc pocket bike engines.
... It doesn't seem to say anything about multiple engines...

I want to build it to moped/motor scooter specs so that way I dont need insurance or a special license.

I was thinking about getting this engine

Also what is a step through chasis? I wanted to kind of build this like a long beefy mini bike/dirt bike type thing and was wondering if that would qualify as a step through chasis
