Streaker model STA 5

So, have an old streaker pace setter model STA 5 I bought and am modifying, however I'm having issues removing the rear axle, it has a 1.25" OD axle with 3/4" threads, does anyone know if the threads are reversed or standard direction?

Should be standard thread, you'll probably need to drop it in a vat of oil for six months! Just playing, usually a mix of p.b. blaster and some heat from a torch get them to come off with some hammer tapping. Time and patients, along with a lot of elbow grease should get it free, the hub is likely rusted to the axle itself as well.

If nothing else cut and split the nut and dont mangle the threads.

Yeah, been using some deep penetrating rust release WD-40 on everything, just can't seem to get that one to go, wanted to see if anyone knew if it was reverse thread before I started with the torch. Picked up the frame dirt cheap, but it had set outside unprotected for 5 years.

If nothing else cut and split the nut and dont mangle the threads.

If you do have to cut, I'd cut right above the keyway, then pry the nut open as wide as possible, may come off at that point, or let you turn it 180° for your second cut the be on the keyway too, not a terrible idea.

You should be able to get it off with a good impact wrench. It wouldn't hurt to take the axle to your nearby shop and ask if they could remove the nut for you. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks and who knows the mech might even knock it lose for free. If it wasn't too much trouble I wouldn't charge. That way you prevent any risk of damaging your axle and you may be able to save the nut as well.
