Strange 1" engine shaft, how to put on a 3/4" clutch

It's been said you can't weld. Good- I wouldn't want you to attempt to "build up" the shaft to 1". Guaranteed disaster.
Sell the engine for what you can. Check CL, the dump, and everywhere else for a fixer-upper frame and other parts, including a 3/4" shaft engine, say, 4-6.5 hp.

Okayokay, so no wood. Yet no welding. Is it possible to buy angle iron and then just drill holes and connect with bolts? If so, what size angle iron should I get? 1"x1" 1/8" thick?

Angle iron is wayyy to flexible.

OK...well say I used square tubing 1/8" thick. Can I just bolt it (granted that I use a bunch of trusses) and always make sure everything is bolted tight before riding?

Bolting is a bad alternative to welding.. But it would work. After all the extra hardware you could probably buy a cheap used welder.

what a load of crap that is! i got 3/16" angle iron holding most of my engine components and that angle iron ain't gunna bend anytime soon!

On a more serious note, your best bet it to find a junker frame or learn to weld.

Guys look at the motor Anyone notice something off looking??????????????? it looks like it has a gear reduction mounted to the side of the motor i know my techumseh doesn't have that on the side or my briggs or honda infact im almost 100% positive thats what it is!! anyways kid don't use a wood frame not SAFE but does help support the Hospitals anyways if you need a frame i have one sitting here you can have im not sure where your at but its your if you want it i could ship but cost of it is up to you craigslist is better to find cheap frames Again im thinking you have a gear reduction box mounted to the motor if you need help let me know

you know what my last post said i take it back after looking at the newer ones i guess they do look way different than the older enduros anyways sorry for false hope lol and my lack of knowledge on the techumseh motors but i do have a 6.0hp techumseh with a fresh rebuild i'd swap with you it has the 3/4 keyway also have a torque a verter setup for that motor

thanks man. I live in Connecticut (not many go kart enthusiasts out here...no frames on craigslist or ebay). I actually just went to this mechanic who i kind of know. he actually gave me an engine for free...it's a 4hp briggs from like 1950. He said it worked like 5 years ago but now everything's rusted. today i took it apart, washed all the parts, lubricated them (with no knowledge of engines) . It should work okay....now is 4hp suitable for a wood frame?
