Hope everybodys alright. I seen on the news last night, the two big storms that went thru Aussie land. From the looks of things on the news, they did some pretty mean damage.

Yep, a massive storm cell tore through south east Queensland on Thursday afternoon; 140kmh (90mph) winds, heavy rain & hail the size of golf balls...
I have family (2 sisters & 2 kids) who live in the path of the storm, fortunately, no injuries or damage to them or their property...
No, there was A LOT of damage, estimated $100 million worth

To change the subject though, the sadder news was the death of cricket player Phillip Hughes who passed away on Thursday after being struck in the neck by a cricket ball during a game on Tuesday... &, yes, he was wearing a helmet...

Glad to hear your Family is OK and no property damage. It is hard to realize 100 mil $'s worth of damage without seeing it. I read about Phillip Hughes death on the internet. So sad and at such a young age.Shelby Gale

Hi, storms are really a bit alarming for some areas because of floods they do create. However this could be prevented, we should be aware most of the time to take necessary precautions and safety.

But no high winds and lightning are not preventable
Neither is flooding or hail
U can build better houses to survive the wind
But who Will spend an extra 40 on a house for a once in a life time event
As for flooding
U can detect the waters
But Australia lacks hills
So rather than a washed out gully we get floods that can be kilometers wide
They're the ones that really do the damage
Unfortunately it was just a freak event
Some small damage would be avoided like if people left there cars in the garage that day and walked to work
Or if a few people had tidied the yard a bit better
