ok so I live in a apartment and my biggest issue is storage. currently to store my kart I have to unmounts engine and axle to store away axle and motor goes in closet and rest of frame gets stood up behind dryer.

so I plan on changing the rear section to square tubing since their is a bit of rust on the old round tube in rear. so question is if I fab up the rear section where the engine and axle mount would I be able to weld up a flange with bolt holes to just bolt it to the front half of the frame? fyi the back half I speak of is from the back of seat back. if I could do this then I could just unbolt the back half to store versus taking off motor and axle aligning the chain and what not.

Hello and welcome....
I'm having a hard time understand what your saying... but sounds interesting for the folks here that have space constraints like apartments.....

Do/can you make a sketch of your idea.... to see if it is sound for strength..

I am in northern ky area and will have pics up sometime this weekend probably should of waited till I had them but excited since this kinda my first real project.

I haven't gotten into a actuall sketch or anything yet still brainstorming but it is just a simple yard kart nothing to special.

so my idea was cut the frame into 2 sections. make the cut right behind seat on frame to basically have motor and axle on one section and seat steering assembly on the other half. with the 2 sections separated I was thinkin weld on some plat metal on each side of where I cut, drill some holes to bolt bot sections together whenever I want to take it out.

sorry if this still isn't explanatory enough i have it pictured in my head but will do my best to try and get some pictures up this weekend of my plans

ya that's pretty much the same thing I was thinking didn't think of the rubber insulator part though.

but yes my only question is durability and structural integrity or would I be better off just trying to weld aluminum square tube to what I assume is just regular round steel to try and take weight off for easier storage.

or maybe even have 2 more bars that come up diagonally and mount to back of seat also?

I dont see why you couldnt have a 2-piece frame. Just need to be sure everything aligns right and you use high grade fasteners with good lock nuts to ensure it doesnt come apart while operating.
