Question: I have my clutch lever on my shifer, which is a bicycle brake handle attached to the clutch on the engine by wire. but it isnt engaging the clutch. Do dirt bikes have a special clutch lever? or does it just require alot of force to engage?

Note: I am doing this with the engine not running.

Thanks
SJ

How did you go about doing this? I'm trying to figure out how to create a shifting lever and would like to use a hand clutch at the same time. Do you have any pics? Thanks for the help!

Well on my quad, you pull in the lever and clutch engauges. Im pretty sure there is nothing special. They are very hard to pull in without leverage. If you just have a tiny bike lever thats probably your problem. Levers for the clutch are much larger because of the force needed to pull it in. I would modifiy your lever and make it longer. How long is it now? I can mesure my lever to tell you what a good starting point would be.

Yeah that lever is way to tiny, try locking vice grips on the lever and using that extra leverage. It should solve your problem.

Vice Grips on the clutch actuator on the engine? how will I be able to use the clutch on the shifter when I'm riding?

Thanks

No lol, the lever on your shifter, the bike lever. It needs to be longer for leverage. Lock vice grips to it and pull it in.

Yeah, dd that work? If that did, i would get a larger lever or weld an extension on the current one.

I wanted to make sure thats what you were talking about first. I still need to adjust the wire and stuff for the clutch. It's finals week for me so I wont be working on it till next weekend.
