So I need a steering wheel for my kart so I can give dad his whipper snipper handle back! Ive been looking on Ebay and a variety of karting websites and cant seem to get one under $50! They cost about $20 on Ebay US but shipping to Australia costs a motza! Where can I get a Go Kart steering wheel for under $50? Does anyone happen to have one lying around which they would be able to sell? How much and where did you get your steering wheel?
Cheers Guys

I dont want to use a full size steering wheel because it will be really uncomfortable to drive because the size of the steering wheel will force your knees out and feel really awkward to drive. Thanks for the info anyway

Same problem.
I used 12" bicycle rim, it fits nicely but looks bad and not very comfortable to hold.
Second option is to custom built from tubes, there are some nice examples on this forum.
Another creative option:

you can probably just make one with a bit of scrap tube and some flat bar (or make one from a chain!).

You could probably find an old 12" Evaporate cooler pulley for free:

They use set screws to hold them on, If the shaft size is correct, you'd just need to drill a small pilot hole in your steering column and tighten up that set screw to hold it on. If your steering column was too small you'd just need to find a brass bushing/steel sleeve to shim up the difference.

Then just find a short section of old garden hose, cut a lengthwise slit, slide it over the pulley, and then use some electrical tape to wrap it all up nice and neat.

The karts In this pic used old pulleys they found for free:

Small pulley:

Tip-shop, aircon/washer repair shop, junkyard, old washing machine, .

You could buy one from some hardware/agricultural shops (not Bunnings) or BSC.

I would like to know how someone that has no idea where you live could tell you where to find a free anything?

Anderkart gave you a good idea for a steering wheel, this is Do It Yourself Go Kart.

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes I wonder if some of the people asking questions on this site even have a kart or project going on. Just asking random questions.

Well maybe if you read the whole first post you might find out where I actually live. I think you should know the whole situation before you start wrongly accusing people, wouldn't you agree????

Stop having a go at joe, he only asked a question. There may have been a certain machine or something where he could have found one or something.
I would post you a wheel from the UK for $20 ish. However shipping is probably about $50!
Cheers for sorting out the spam toystory.
