Hi, i'm new to this forum. I'm building my 1st kart and i've run into a problem. The front suspension is a single A arm setup. The problem is with the steering method. I'd prefer to avoid using a rack and pinion setup and stick with the pitman arm. Is there anyway in attaching the pitman arm to the spindles without tearing the tie rods off everytime I go over a bump????

Not sure on how you are building your single a arms. But you need the tie rod hole in the bell crank on the center line of the a arm mounting holes. In other words if you draw a line from the center of the right a arm pivoting hole it should run through the center of the pittman arm hole and the center of the left a arm pivoting hole. And for a bell crank you need your a arm pivots as close as possible to each other to eliminate the bump steer.

ya i can see what your saying, it would reduce the lateral movement but still would it solve the problem?

I think the problem you are meaning is bumpsteer, This is one way of eliminating some or most of it. Make up a wood model and cycle it.
