Steering Rack Suggestions

Hello all:

Looking for some suggestions, on a steering rack for my Carter Bros XTV 150cc. The steering my cart came with was pretty bad. I would like to put a rack and pinion set up on it. I found some good products. The only problem is the steering shaft is much to short for my needs. I have looked around online for longer steering shafts. I came across a company that makes splined ends and longer shaft. But I would like to by a rack that will match the spline count. Can anyone recommend a supplier that might have these kinds of items? Here is the company I mentioned that has the ends and the shaft. As well as the company with the steering rack.

Borgson will make any joint you may need for any spline you have. For a price.

Get a borgson joint that natches your spline count X double D and make watcha need!
There is really just "several" configurations, assuming they didn’t invent their own size/shape.

I recently bought a Carter Talon (no idea what year) that has rack and pinion steering but, from looking at your pictures, it would take some fabrication to create attach points for the rack and the steering wheel. If you enlarge the attached picture, you can see what I mean about attach points. That said, if you google "go kart steering assembly" there are a number of rack kits available. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Has anyone played with Subaru Racks?
I was handed one from a very knowledgeable source, who says....
Its hydraulic assist R&P, plug the hydraulic ports and fill it with oil and use it as manual.
It's only 24" wide when the drag links are removed. Mounting looks to be purdy easy also.
Early experiments have proven the info to be correct.
Might be a nice solution for bigger machines?

Just wonderin if anyone has played with them racks?
