So I always loved shifter karts, but, when presented with a mower for free....Definitely couldn't pass it up. Plus the body on this thing will look awesome slammed! Donor mower pictures!

If you have questions about ideas, feel free to pm me. Here is mine, I was messing around with a set of paddle tires when I did that.

Thanks bud! Yeah it’s a first for me. Got a 5 speed 200cc motor going into it. Your mower looks awesome! Definitely will have questions I’m sure.

Had some time to start the tear down. Was pretty simple and straightforward. Hopefully can make more progress with it this week.

Nice, what diameter are the axle shafts on the transaxle?

I am going to be replacing the rear with a boxed in solid 1" axle. Putting in a horizontal shaft shifter engine, so would like to save on the weight of the existing tranny.

Do you have the Lifan 5 speed already?
I’ve been wanting one for a while.

Do you have an idea about sprocket ratio you want to use with those large tires?

Lifan 5 speed on the way! I'm going to be slamming this thing, and changing tires to 12". I have several different sprockets, but going to start with a 15-42 (2.8).

I had to look up what "slammed" means.

Last time I slammed a car, I got put in handcuffs.
The great state of Illinois frowns upon driving 25 mph into a ex's parked car.

I told em I didn't slam into it. I didn't bump into it. I didn't nudge it.
I rubbed it. And rubbin son, is lovin.

I ask because you might have an 820 peerless if they are 1 inch axle shafts. They sell for good money, so you might be able to sell it for money to pay for the build.

Sweet! I have several craftsman but only one as a project. Instead of lowered it's raised just a bit and has 4 wheel suspension. I'll have to get you a pic later. I originally had a 12.5hp on it but I took it off. I have a built 18hp oppy that screams that's going on it. It's a project on hold, I have a kart on my bench right now that I'm putting together. I have to redo the shifter on my tractor because I used the blade height arm for the shifter (fearless fronts idea) and because my rear end is a swing arm every time I hit a bump it shifts on its own. As of yet I haven't had problems with belt jumping but then it's just a toy Any riding like it was an atv you'd be looking at a hospital visit lol. I was quit the hero rolling onto our bridge hangout a few weeks on it with a bottle of nitrous on it lol.

Tons of ideas, not tons of time.

Can't wait to see yours lowered. Not sure on that tranny, most of mine except the one in the pic are the old cast iron footes, think 820s I don't think k your is they don't have the mounts on the sides like yours is showing. I'm not an expert.

Kansas, like that mower. Yeah I’m going for a slammed, asphalt racer. Been toying with the idea of independent front suspension and 4 link rear end. I have a bunch of projects sitting. But this one really has my attention. I mean it’s the best of both worlds.

Ive had those thoughts also. Just about easier to basically build a front engine kart and utilize the mower hood and fenders. Like a real race car, it's anything but a car. The blue one on this thread is very nice. I would opt for one with the seat lowered onto the frame with the fenders raising up on your sides. Come in handy if you don't like roll overs or just falling off it which is very easy to do. Keep in mind these things are NOT safe as I have found out lmao. My mower is for cruising, my karts are for tearing it up.

I agree! Seat lowered is the way to go. This is also why I have been thinking about putting in a suspension. To help with roll. 40” axle setup, so the wheel track will be roughly 38” with 9” wide tires.

I think it could be an 820. You will find out when you pull the trans. They usually come with sacers over the shafts that are about 1/8 thick. As for suspension, that is more body roll and body roll is a death sentence for handling usually. I have a full 1x2 thick wall tube chassis hidden under mine, and mine handles great. With no body roll, all of the steering geometry and wheel grip translates to the the ground exactly.

Definitely keep you posted when I pull it. I also saw some of the mower guys welding in a subframe. Think I’ll definitely do that. So yours doesn’t have any suspension right?
