i have a 83 fl250 and it was sitting in a yard for a couple of years what are the main things i need to do to get it started what are the main things i should replace.

drain gas tank.. flush lines
change oil. pull plugs squirt some marvel mystery oil in cylinders
add fresh gas.
charge battery should crank


dont be surprised if fuel filter gets clogged and pump may need replacing.


EDIT... need to learn to read thought it said 83 F250 LOL>>>

But in all seriousness, don't use starter fluid much on a 2-stroke because it has no oil in it.

the first guy has you covered,
i wouldn't even use starter fluid period
that stuff is like tweak for your engine it will get to the point where you have to use it all the time and you have no compression i've seen the aftermath of a Detroit diesel loosing a head and shattering a sleeve i don't even buy the crap

wasting your time if you don't pull the carb and at the very least tear it down and clean it and all passages. it might start but wont be right if you don't.
