Starting my first build

Hello everyone i recently have decided i want to construct a electric go kart for my next project my only thing im not to sure about is a motor and im looking for a little advice. i have been searching online and reading things which is how i found this site which so far has been helpful. im looking for something that can do 45mph or better kinda like the karts at speed raceway. here's a link to a video on youtube of someone driving the kart

They say there a XLR8R kart but i cant find anything on them except a razor scooter. any and all advice would be helpful even if someone could provide a good site to get parts off of

OMG i want one lol

and no i have never asked i didn't even know they sometimes sell them ill ask tonight when i go i just wanted the satisfaction of building one myself from the ground up again just not 100% on a motor if to go with a 72v or if i could get away with a 48v or 24v that would still produce 45mph or better

yeees, they mostly do (or know the retailer pretty well at least)
So you can surely take a very close look at it (in person)
knowing what exactly is mounted to that kart.
And you can ask questions.. what's the power what battery etc.pp.

No need to actually buy this thing, but pretending so, you can get almost all the info you want

if you are beginning with the kart, I would recommend you to spend time at the drawing board. Keep the frame as light as possible so you might get away with a smaller motor and fewer batteries. You have to however note that electric motors are rated for constant speed and have terrific take off and acceleration. You also have the option to 'overvolt' the motor, meaning giving it more power than it actually requires which invariably will increase your speed.

If one overvolts the motor, it invariably raises the chances of having a meltdown and/or fire. Always keep this in mind about electric carts and have a fire extinguisher handy on the vehicle.
