More like a drill than an impact. Some motors have a compression release that makes it easy to pull the rope, also makes it easy to use a cordless drill
A raptor 3 comes without a recoil. Wether it be a clutch type or cup type starter on the engine. You use a stand alone recoil, once the engine starts you remove the recoil. Reason for no recoil being attached to the engine is, on the track some racers like to use there left front tire to jam the recoil, therefore locking your engine up. With the purpose of winning at all costs. Which usally causes some kind of excitment in the pits after the race.
Bolt on a cup for the clutch type, wrap some small rope around it and give it a yank,frank....Engine should start up and rope lets loose as it nears the point of unwinding.... Like they do OLD school boat outboards and whatnot....
