stalling kart

my sons kart has been stalling the last couple of times we take it out.the plug in black as night.is there any kind of tune up manual out there for a Tecumseh 5 hp motor,or can someone shead some light on the problem.it really needs a good tune up and cleaning.

u could have ur mixture screw to far out and therefore just flooding it. Try turning the mixture screw in a bit. Also, clean ur air filter b4 u do it as that may be doing it because if it cant suck in enough air, it over compensates with fuel and therefore flooding it which would give u that black plug. If its not any of the above then it may be time for a rebuild.

Just about every modern industrial engine has an unadjustable carb (with the exception of idle adjustment).

is there any kind of manual out there that might show me where these screw are.i just don't want to get a screw driver and start turning things.

try to run it with the air filter removed - just to see what happens - it helps to trouble shoot. Google your engine type with the word manual.
