Stage 1 Upgrade Not Impressive

Both y'all are writing on a necrothread, but Jimmyjoe is the one that dragged it out of the crypt. Thread's been dead 4 years, 236 days and 17 hours and most of the people writing in it haven't been seen since 2020-2022.

Just don't expect responses from the people that were involved in it.

I felt it my duty to explain the intricate workings of the governor's connection to the throttle plate.

Spark, don't worry about it. If somebody is listening, then it's worth responding.
I think Jimmy Joe doesn't realize that when he changed to a slide type carburater he somehow thinks the governor is still active. Not removing the internals, it might get REAL active.

I actually did not intend to disparage you, Spark, because you're experienced. Just a reminder to the newbs.
And thanks to Jimmyjoe for bring attention to older posts I haven't seen yet.

For the longest time, you could not reply to posts here that were a year or 6 months old maybe, they were locked unless you asked a Mod to unlock them. Now you can reply, but there are still locked threads here and there that state "not open to further replies" or some such.

However, I do believe in reviving dormant threads especially if you wish to expand upon the topic. SO much better than doing a new thread and starting from scratch.

I also think older threads should be open for replies, in case the reply either asks the same question, or basically ask if the solution was ever figured out, and asking what solved the issue.
I think in this case, someone misunderstood the issue.
Offering a solution after a couple of years doesn't make much sense, though.

Head work- porting etc, and a thin headgasket will reap more rewards than just sticking a carb on it, offset key for ignition allows for it to have more power higher up the rev range. Cheap performance upgrade.
I understand most people don't have the desire to carry out the head mods, plenty of machine shops willing to do the work, performance houses even have the heads in stock

your not going to go any faster the governor is going to stop you from gaining any speed because the engine rpm is limited its not hard to to a governor removal some people say its hard its not it cost me $25.99 witch was a tap and 2 bolts and some red locktite all the other stuff is just tools i would watch red beards garage video on doing a governor removal it took me less than a hour and you can keep the tap and the thing that scared me the most was taping but really its not hard you don´t even need a impact wrench or a drill just simple hand tools

the governor removal was so easy in fact i did one on a briggs and stratton 5hp (Flathead) without watching any videos because its basically the same thing
