Trying to reuse as many parts as I can on my Craigslist kart Ive been fixing up lately.
The 1pc sprocket and hub also has a brake drum attached to it. The problem is it's not a very tight fit on the axle even with the key in. The sprocket hub has 4 bolts in it every 90 degrees which I've tightened down, but after a short drive, they work loose and the sprocket starts wobbling and throws the chain when turning. I tried placing a 1inch collar beside the sprocket and tightening both down pressed against each other, but that does not help much. Any way I can get it to work? I can always buy a quick change sprocket, but that's more money to spend.

Pics would be greatly helpful... but it sounds like to me that the Hub(holding the sprocket) is a 'floating' hub(better used on disk brakes than on sprockets). It sounds like youre running a band brake system, which is a good brake... but probably wont work too well on a floating hub setup.

Again pics would be greatly helpful here... but from what Im mentally picturing... IMO, Id get a non-floating hub sprocket(keep the lock collar JIC), a disk brake setup(mechanical/hydrolic), use the floating hub on the disk(toss the band brakes to side for another kart) and there you go... REALLY good brakes n nomore sprocket loosening/floating.

...also you may wanna invest in some 'Lock-tite' red n lock washers.
