So i have this skinny narrow go kart that has an expensive atv axle (so cant replacing it).Which has a 31 tooth sprocket and the only torque converter(TAV2) i can afford right now has 12 tooth sprocket. The axle has the sprocket welded together so its not going anywhere and i cant find any other larger sprockets.So that is staying which means my ratio is close to 3:1 and 12in tire diameter how is that going to handle on the road and off road (no hills) i live in Texas not much hills. I also have an 212cc predator engine i just bought and it will need to be costume mounted because there is no room on go kart i will post pics later.

Welcome fellow Texan! Without pics, you could do a jack shaft set up from motor to tc or tc to j/s to axle..... j/s will let you get the ratio you want easily.

Right now it looks like you have to stick to a reduction gearbox (comes with a wet clutch) that provides a 1:2 reduction so that you end up with 1:6.
But.. let's see some pictures and we know more

The engine is going to be more to the right because it does not fit so that means costume mounts but the engine is going to stick out to the right

You might have issues with chain tension the way its set up now. If your axle doesnt move in the same arc as your motors shaft center line, it can cause the chain to get long or short...... you might need a jackshaft type set up down there by your pivot point for swing arm.

I hope you didn't pay too much for that, whoever built it clearly had no idea what they were doing, nice try but, nope...
The dimensions are all wrong;
-if it steers at all it would have the turning circle of an ocean liner
-when (no if, it's a certainty) it tips over, that cage(?) is gonna do nought to protect you; the most it will do is stop it from rolling over completely
-A good wheelbase:track ratio is around 4:3, that looks more like 4:1.5
-Rule #1 of go kart building is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever weld anything to the axle.
Sorry to pick your machine to death but, this kind of thing really annoys me; some moron tries to build a "kart" then, when it doesn't work, he palms it off on some poor, unsuspecting kid; I feel for you but, you have a lot of work ahead of you...

Unfortunately I have to fully agree with Fabroman here,
there is no right left in so much wrong there
That parts were taken of a kids quad I assume (50 maybe 100cc) So none of it is made to carry the load of the frame let alone you inside on off-road terrain.
I'm so sorry, but you should ask your money back.
It'll be cheaper to build one from scratch than to make that one safe or even driveable.

Unfortunately, this comes under the heading of "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware). He can't get his money back because he could see what he was buying... Unless the seller is a kind & reasonable fellow but, given that he sold this thing in the first place, I doubt it...

Ohhh, so, right as in correct & left as in remaining... To me, right is a direction which is opposite to left, that's where I got confused...
well the only thing that hurts is that i bought a new engine for it the go kart was free it was sitting next to my uncles mechanic shop all picked to peaces by people i did notice the problems but thought they could be fixed or in the case of the frame just driven safely in flat ground but still offroad just going strait since it will be used in a ranch if i can fix it or is it a lost cause like you guys sed
ooh yeah and the owner sed it was built like in the the early 2000s and he saw it drive by at like 20 with a pocket bike engine and i have people that can confirm that story .

I wouldn't say a lost cause, but you're definitely gonna need to re-do at the very least the rear end. Put your back tires on, and measure how wide it is. Then measure your wheel base, from center of front axle to center of rear axle. And lastly,how wide is the front track,outside to outside of front tires?

Oh good, I was worried you actually paid someone for it...
The engine is an engine, it can be used on anything
It has a few problems but nothing that can't be fixed...One small point: True track is also measured from centre to centre but, for the purpose of this exercise, go ahead & measure outside...

STOP NOW, save $25-$125, look on your local craigslist and BUY A USED FRAME, fix it up from there, chances are there are plenty good old frames that just need a new motor, and guess what>? You are already half way there!
this frame is complete junk, and is not worth saving AT ALL
I want to save you the heartache of lost hope and dreams because this thing is NOT going to cut it AT ALL. I am not trying to brag, but I could weld on the back part of the kart, buy all the right parts not worth fabricating and fix it up, and i would end up spending much more that it would cost to buy a used kart with a good frame that needs a new engine, brake band, seat, and tires. The numbers and EFFORT to fix this thing both don't add up. Please don't be discouraged about this, just please find another kart, or prove us wrong, but don't be sad if you cant fix it up.

That's close enough to 2:1 (2.37 to be exact). To get it to a usable size, you need to almost double the width...

I didn't want to be the one to say it (thanks gran pann) but, he's right...
At this point, you have nothing invested in this frame, apart from an hour or two fiddling about with it; cut your losses & find something a little less... wrong...
You could spend countless hours trying to make something decent out of it but, for now, find youself a cheap roller so you at least have something to ride...
