Sprocket Idler freely moving

I purchased a go kart and today I went for a ride to test out and I accidentally hit a concrete pavement. The rear left wheel that connects the chain to the engine, the sprocket ( I guess thats what they call it the one with teeth?) it hit the concrete pretty hard and the chain link broke off. The part on the engine itself the little sprocket teeth thing, that moves freely now. I went back to my house and I started the engine and the engine runs ok. however, the sprocket is not as tight. Is there something attached to the sprocket that keeps it in place? I just turn it and its moving freely now. Thank you.

It a saburu robin 6.5 engine.

That sprocket just moves freely. There is no tension at all.

That is a centrifugal clutch. It should move freely when not attached to the chain. Get a MasterLink reattach the chain and take it for a test drive. Oh and before you do take it for test drive put it on some blocks and spin the wheel to make sure it's not warped .

If that clutch sprocket rotates freely it's perfectly okay..
well; as long as it's firmly attached to the clutch bell (the one with the six holes behind it )

If so, your clutch will be still functional.

So, new masterlink (or if you want to rivet yourself... a good punch) and your chain should be back to business..

my biggest concern now is your rear sprocket... if the chain looks like that, chances are the sprocket has seen similar abuse and might need to be replaced

You guys are amazing. I was afraid maybe the centrifugal clutch was broken.

Can I usually pick up a masterlink from a home improvement store such as Lowes or Home Depot? or do lawn mower repair shops have them? I could order it online.

Rear sprocket looked ok to me. I will check in the morning.

I would just go to a mower shop, or any shop that sells chains and bearings

Hey guys, i took the rear wheel off and verified the sprocket. It was good. Not wobbly at all.

I took chain off, reconnected the link and use a hammer to bend it back. It worked perfectly. I will look into perhaps replacing it, because when you try to stretch it, it is all uneven. I soaked the chain in oil to lubricate it. (not sure if that was a good idea) but it stayed on the engine and never came off after going full throttle.

I also need the brakes, steering and front tires replaced.
