Sprocket and chain alignment for Baja mini bike

I just got a predator 212 and am trying to mount it on a Baja doodle bug, how do I make sure/check that the sprocket and chain alignment are straight?

Visually, then a straight edge long enough to touch each sprocket...

My entire career in HVACR lining up everything from 1/4 hp. blowers to 4mil. BTU airshacks I kept a thin metal yardstick in my truck for aligning drives. All that matters is putting an edge against the flat of your large sprocket that won't flex in the 90 degree angle. You can flex and bend your choice of guide stick all you want to snake it where you want, as long as you keep the rigid edge pressed hard against the flat side of one drive or the other.
