Springs on control Assy

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a Tecumseh HM100-159369P engine on my cart. I was in the process of removing my carburetor to clean and I noticed that the upper spring on the control assembly was fully stretched out I have a starting issue where the go kart will start run for about 5 seconds and die. If you look in the picture you can see the upper spring is stretched out what are these springs called and where can I find them since in the parts breakdown. I cannot locate a p/n for these springs. Any help is much appreciated.

In the parts explosion, I see no reference to springs in your pic.
I suspect they have been added on to aid in throttle return.

Yeah I am not sure if they need to be there or not. I guess once I get the carb reinstalled and it runs like normal I will just leave them alone.

That's an extension spring...
not available on it's own for some unknown reason..
it's part of the whole control assembly (Tecumseh 34784 ) though.

But you can replace it with any pulling spring of similar configuration (ring ends, same length, and just roughly the same strength)

maybe even one of a different control assembly made by tecumseh *shrugs*
like Tecumseh 36281
or Tecumseh 31426
or maybe with Governor springs
like Tecumseh 31386
or Tecumseh 31361

(Oh I don't know the length of the spring you need.. so all the above numbers are just hints,
not necessarily matching replacements )

The spring that is all stretched out is what returns the throttle rod plate back toward the throttle lever that has the cable attached to it. They are on 2 separate planes and swing separate from each other, so the stretched out spring is trying to pull the rods back closed. Without the stretched out spring, the governer and carb will have no way to close or come back to idle. The other spring is just pulling the throttle lever closed. You will need both springs to operate, otherwise you will have no way to return the rods back against the throttle lever. Here is my linkage on my Tecumseh
