Hey what would make a oil splash finger break off on a predator 212CC?????? Thoughts??

Casting flaws, gov removed, hitting it with socket wrench, or maybe even a super viscous oil...

???? bone stock.. had the crankcase cover off once but didn't touch connecting rod.. I pulled it off again to polish it and I found two pieces of splash finger!!

So over revving does it?? That might be my problem..

bypassed gov is the WORST!
if it crumbles to pieces (and it will eventually)
you'll have small metal parts flying around inside of the crankcase...
breaking the splash finger is the least dramatic outcome tbh ..

buy a new conrod.. remove all the remnants of the governor
and proceed as planned.

Do a search on the subject...
But now the rod is messed... You'll be needing to replace that too...

the plastic gear (all it's internals) and the small finicky to remove at times washer that sits behind the plastic gear.
the axle can remain inside the engine (it doesn't turn at all
)you can also pop it out and cover the hole with a matching bolt from the outside.
You also -IMHO- should remove the governor arm, that hockey stick that touches the governor and pokes through the top of the engine.
(You might need to cut it to do so)
And again plug the hole in the top again with a matching bolt
(a steel bolt will cut the aluminium casing just fine on it's own, if you're not too rude

Also since you need a rod... If you want a stock one maybe ask around here or post in the classified page. Many guys replace the stock rod for a fancy Billet one. Maybe someone will give you their old perfectly good Stock Rod???
