spindle mount

ok well i wanted a motorized bicycle and i didn't want to pay $200 for a kit to be shipped to my place so i found a small 49cc pocket bike engine it starts runs may need new rings but its good so i was wondering on how to connect it to my bike and the only thing that i can possibly do is friction drive. so i can mount a spindle in the fly wheel using the flywheel bolt but i want the engine to be disengaged when I'm breaking and idling so i need to find a way of mounting a spindle like a bicycle peg on the clutch some how any one have any other ideas??

if its a pocket bike engine it has a clutch probably. so use chain drive!

yes it does have a clutch and sprocket but the only problem i found with that is that i need a bigger sprocket around 176-220 tooth sprocket and a wayy bigger chain and i don't know where to get it so i wanted to mount a spindle on the output shaft of the clutch

im only against that method because your tire will wear out fast....

you could run a jackshaft.

of course the kit will be super easy compared to this... lol

well if you used friction drive it can slip when wet but not like you would be riding in the rain anyway and it wears down your tire really quick not good to always change your grip but if u added a peg to the clutch like welded it to the sprocket it would wear out out your clutch bearing but if you attached it to your flywheel it would work but there would be no pull start and no clutch so to start it start peddling to stop it hit the brakes not a very good setup i reccomend just buy a kit not worth the time and money to build one yourself

Wait, Why would you need that many teeth? Usually a 49cc engine has 6-9 teeth on the clutch. (from memory). Thats somewhere between 24:1 and 36:1, or something like that. That is some insanely low gearing. Do you intend on towing things at 2k's an hour? haha. I may have misread something but I really think you are over estimating your sprocket size.

What size wheels?
