hey extreme, upload your videos to youtube and post the links here. there's a lot of people on here that can't access the videos on your facebook page. youtube is just better anyway.

I got the front brakes working this weekend and tried them out last night. Wow, what a difference! I am SOOO glad I went with the front brakes, even though it was a lot more work. With just the rear brakes I could stop, but it was pretty weak. Now with brakes in front and back I can stop on a dime!

To pull it off, I fabricated a caliper mount that attaches to the front spindles I was already using. I could have either make (or bought) and entire new spindle with an integrated caliper mount, but I thought I would just work with what I already had, and it worked out great.

and 'sid, sorry about your eardrums, I think he is the reason I am going deaf. Either that or all the many years of playing drums and shooting guns :)

Hey no problem,
he's a kid, he should be allowed to be loud every once in a while ;)

Nice work on the front brakes.
May I ask what diameter the rotor has?

I am building the same thing! nice pics on fb of the kart looks fabulous. what adjustments did you make for the engine to work on it?

The main adjustment for the engine was going to the heavy duty torque converter and Jack Shaft. That required some adjustments to the back part of the frame that supports the engine so it could support the layout for the Jack shaft. Other than that things are mostly the same as the plans.

Yup, haven't spent much time working on the cart lately, but have been having fun driving the kids around on it. I took them out on Halloween and drove around with them while they gathered bags full of candy, it was fun.

I need to get back to wrapping up the loose ends. Next step is putting in the floor, paint, lights, etc., which I plan on doing over the winter so we can take it out to the dunes in the spring and she how she rolls in the sand :)

I typically use the lawn mower and a trailer for Halloween. By next year I would like to have either a kart or perhaps a golf cart.

What kinda speed are you getting out of it anyway?

With the gearing that I have on it now, at full throttle I get 30 mph. With the engine I put on it I have HP to spare, so if I wanted to re-gear I could certainly get it faster and still have enough low end torque, but I don't think I will, it's already faster than I think I would like the kids to be driving. I also still have the governor on, it would be smoking fast if I took it off.

I have had a few questions about what I did to get front brakes added to my setup, so I thought I would post it for anyone else who is curious. I am very glad I added the front brakes, it helps a lot. Before I had the front brakes added, I drove it around a few times with only a back brake, and the braking power was pretty poor. But the addition of the front brakes allows me to step on the brakes and stop on a dime.

Here is info on what I did for brakes:

The only stuff I could find that would work are parts made for chinese ATV's because the only hubs I could find with brake rotors have the 4x110 bolt pattern rather than the 4x4, so I have been forced to hunt for stuff. I bought a 3 piece brake set off ebay, hubs and rotors from Buggy Depot and Tires/Wheels from Motorpartsmax (although I'm probably going to buy some wider rear tires). I fabricated a rear brake mount and master cylinder mount, and fabricated front caliper mounts that worked in conduction with the spindles I already had. To be honest if I were to do it again, I would have just fabricated the entire spindle myself and included caliper mounts, or I have seen a few places online (such as the BuggyDepot) that just sell a heavy duty spindle/caliper mount. But since I already had some spindles, I just used them and added caliper mounts, and it worked out just fine.

Here are some links to the stuff I bought for braking:
Brake master/calipers
Hubs/Rotors
Tires/Wheels

I also attached a picture of what my front spindle/caliper mount setup ended up looking like.

Thanks for the info. I have bought 4 sets of these exact brakes and will use them in my build - 3 karts - #1 for kids with Predator 212, #2 single seater and #3 dual seater with Predator 420 - highly modified (hope to get at least 20HP out of it). I'll be fabricating my own stuff - rotors, spindles, simple transmission, steering rack etc. Hope to get on it this winter but I'm not sure as I'm also building my airplane...will see.

Those sounds like some awesome projects, I am happy that I have had time to get most way through one project like this in two years, so I'm jealous. Good luck on those projects, and please post some pics and progress.

Things are moving, but slowly. I spent a bit of time over the past few months wrapping up loose ends like parking brake, buying lights, etc. Then I tore the entire thing back down to bare metal and started clean up and paint last week and should have it done this week. After that it's back together, electrical and off to the races. Here are a few pics of my make shift paint booth I set up in my garage and what it looks like as of today:

Hi mate i just love your master piece. The work has come out so good and seems like a pretty good off roader . congrats all the best. It would have been better if you had gone for independent rear end. :) :). keep the updates rolling

So I spent some time over the past few weeks trying to get this thing wrapped up and it's finally about done. Paint is done, it's all put back together and runs like a champ. All I have now are a few odds and ends like lights and the parking brake. I've only had a change to run it around the neighborhood but I'm excited to hit the trails and dunes soon. Here are some pics of the (almost) final product:
