I've heard some people say the arachnid from SpiderCarts is a challenge to build, not only that but that the plans themselves are sh*t. I want to know if this is true and if this would be a good beginner project. If this is not a beginner project, could you recommend one more suitable (preferably with suspension). Thanks in advance, Noah.

From what I have seen, the arachnid is not an easy beginner kart. I do not know if the plans are bad or not though. There were a few arachnid builds on the forum. Do a search for them and see what you think.

I've heard the same; most who attempt it change some measurements for a more suitable size; do some research as landuse suggested...

Well, see, that's what makes it challenging...

If you've never done this type of thing before, no one here will suggest a suspended kart as a first project/build, there's simply too many areas to mess up; for example, if the swing arm mounts are off by even 1/16", that will cause binding...

On the other hand, if you have experience in this type of project, go right ahead; what is your experience level?

I have a granddaddy.
I didn't build it.
It seems who ever did did a pretty decent job with the frame.
Only thing that seems off are the A-Arms. Not exactly straight. Still very functional. Still a blast to drive!.

I have the arachnid plans, I havent built one... but the plans are actually pretty nice. I like the way everything is broken down in them. I would say that yes, the arachnid kart will be a challenge to build for a newbie. Not saying you cant. By just looking at the plans the first thing I would change is the swing arm mount. Search this forum, there have been a couple arachnid builds all discussing some type of problem the builder encountered. Based on those problems you read about, you can decide if its a build you're up to.
