Speedometer pinout-6 wires

I bought a Carbide 7150 cart in pieces. Missing the upper swingarm, wiring, hubs, carb, electronics, etc, etc. I have spent the better part of the winter getting it running. I've finally got everything wired and it starts but I can't find anything to tell me what the last 2 wires on the 6 wire digital speedometer are. I've got yellow and blue to go to the pickup on the rear wheel. Black for 12V and green for GND but I have a red and brown wire left over and I can't figure out if they are just extra or they do something. Were they for another model with turn signals maybe? BTW-this forum has been a great help in figuring out how the carb and electronics all got hooked together.

For all I know blue and yellow go towards the wheel sensor alright,
(yellow turning brown on the connector, blue stays blue )

But that's about it...

Green should go towards green wire of your rear lights (brake light switch)
black towards the black wire on your ignition switch.

brown is essentially not part of the speedometer for all I know, it should be 12V of the headlight IIRC going to a lightswitch and red is the actual 12V battery line as usual and should be part of the ignition switch only...

frankly this is odd... could you post a pic of the speedometer and it's wires (two pics: front and back of the speedometer please)


In any case, the best advice I could give you is..
find the manuals:

read them closely and take some notes even.

and if you are certain that the wiring harness is the original one, the speedometer is the original one and the kart itself is otherwise unaltered in electrical regards..
contact american landmaster (formerly known as american sportworks, formerly known as Manco, formerly known as yellow jacket former... *yaaawn*)

contact them and ask for advice, I hope they'll be able to give you an ultimatively correct answer.
If not for one reason or another...
we need pics!
we need them to confirm it's the same speedometer we're talking about, with the same kart and equipment (lights, no lights, yadda yadda). etc..

It seems to work with just the 4 wires. I'll know for sure once I actually get it moving. When I hooked the red to 12V. it blew the fuse so I don't think it's supposed to have power on it. Stickers on the side say Carbide 15 and everything that I found in the American Sportsworks manuals and parts list matched except for the rear tire size.

hmm that's odd...
the manual clearly shows a four pin speedometer in the wiring diagram *shrugs*

That's why I asked.. I was hoping for another "gimmick" on that plug ..
like a push button or indicator light or something...
best case the ignition key switch (since again, that's the ONLY red wire you should have really)

I'm afraid.. I'm out of clues.. the only thing you could do now is try to identify mk and model of the spedometer and find it's manual.
I think the same was on the XRX (just with additional indicator lights for direction signal and high beam or something)
(spreading the search a bit)

problem solved.

After some more research and looking at the different models at Amer. Sports. I think they just used the same 6-pin plug for multiple models. I found a model with turn signals and a high/low indicator on the speedo so I think that's what the extra wires would be for if I had that model. Thanks to all for the quick responses.
