I Know nothing about speakers subs amps and what not. So i was wondering if this speaker is alright to use it came out of my brothers door on his explore when he rolled it. he thought it was broken cause the center peice is bent. Its a 45w how would i go about hooking this up to my computer, sterio, and tv? Right now i have two speakers hooked to my comp and two on my sterio. i wana take the 45w speaker and make a box for it and then put my 1000w sub in the same box have that on the floor under my desk or somewhere else then the speakers that came with my sterio behind me and then the comp speakers to the sides.. is this possible to make it suround soundish like that?

Well, for your sub you need a separate amp, because you dont want to be playing the mid and high range frequencies through it (sounds like ****). A mono sub amp would be good, is your sub rated at 1000w rms or peak? I got a sub thats 900w peak and 150w rms, either way get an amp to match it, you definitely want a car sub amp, because car audio runs at 4 ohm, and home stereo at 8, so if your running your sub off a home amp, there will be too little resistance and you will run the risk of blowing the amp. Your door speaker should be fine off a home stereo, although it will most likely be quieter than the rest of your 8 ohm speakers. If you already have a sub amp with built in crossover and everything that runs 8 ohms, then pull out the multimeter and get yourself a pack of small resistors and try to get the overall resistance of the speaker+resister to be approx. 8ohm, which is an easy way to do it. If you have a good amp with overload and short out protection, when you connect the 4 ohm speaker it may just go into protect mode.

Alright my stereo speakers are 8 ohm,the 1000w amp is 4 ohm+4 ohm thats what it says on it. its made by performance teknique. around the rim in foam it says dual voice coil???wtf is that. it says double magnet to. the car speaker does not say how many ohm. it says5-1/4" two way, power handling 45w rms, 135w peak. Also the sub doesnt say anything if its 1000w rms or peak or what not.

Oh great! the sub is dual voice coil, that makes everything sub wise very interchangeable. Dual voice coil means that it has two coils, and if you wire them in a series, you get 8 ohms, and if you wire them in a parallel you get 2 ohms, so you can run it on just about any amp powerfull enough. For the door speaker, just run it, and if your amp kicks off, then you know you need a 4ohm resistor that is atleast rated for the amount of watts the amp you have puts out.

Its a capacitor wired inline with the speaker, that stops it from playing a certain range of frequencies, they are also called low and high pass filters. Your mids and tweeters are not meant to handle a lot of bass, so by putting a high pass filter in, your taking the extra strain off the mids and tweeters, and letting just your sub play the bass. Most tweeters already have high pass filters, and some higher quality amps have filters built in that you can tune to your own preference.

As for the magnet blocker, im not sure. As you may know computer hard drives use neodymium magnets (rare earth magnets, very powerful) and they are normally mounted on an alloy that stops the magnetic pull from escaping. I have no idea what exactly the alloy is, but with some research im sure you can find out and that may work for you.

Aluminum foil, probably not...You do have a box for it right? subs sound like **** free air. You can make a box very cheaply, go to home deport...i mean depot and go to the discount section where they have the scrap board and whatnot, i got all the fiberboard i needed, cut to size and everything for like 10 or 12 bucks.
