Some sort of alternator?

Okay so instead of a go kart I would rather build a mini chopper. I want to put a headlight/tailight and turn signals. What would I need to use in order to generate power to everything? I will be using this motor..

The tank on top will be removed and an actual gas tank will be used. I paid 100 bucks Canadian for this motor and it also came with a belt driven clutch installed. Would I be best to go to a chain drive?

you have probs got a torque converter, but we will need pics. Alternators are rubbish you need to get a charging coil that will go onto the fly wheel like this.

You can run lights off something like this- I have this on one of my karts.

Yes, the clutch on the shaft is like a pulley with a slot for a belt. It also has another little pulley that moves left and right, kind of like a tensioner thing the belt goes around. That is on the left side of the main crankshaft pulley. If I had the motor here I would take a picture.

Is that a wire sticking out below your air cleaner?
If it is, your engine may already have a charging coil installed.

Pretty sure it is for the kill switch.

Your factory kill switch wiring is all in the front going to your low-oil level sensor and the kill switch. I think your engine already has a charging coil installed and that wire would conect to your lights.

I'd test that wire with any type of DC volt meter or 12 volt test light. All you'd have to do is run the engine at a higher speed and see if its getting power.

pull off the front shroud and youll see if theres a wire coming from behind the flywheel, if so you have a charging coil. now the lights would run at all times but would be brighter the higher rpm you reach
